Blast: Insurgent Kills 18 in Maiduguri Car Bomb



About 18 persons were reportedly killed in a bomb blast at about 9AM around Muna garage Maiduguri Borno State.

People who witness it say a car bomb, suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents hit a convoy of vehicles around the garage.
According to Daily Trust, the explosion went off as the convoy, which comprises trucks and vehicles conveying goods and passengers, with a military escort was going to Gamboru Ngala.
A witness said he saw 10 corpses at the scene of the explosion, but a source in Maiduguri Specialist Hospital told the Daily Trust that no fewer than 18 bodies were deposited in the hospital morgue with more being expected.
However, Public Relations Officer of Borno State Police Command, DSP Emmanuel Isuku, said 5 persons died, while 5 others sustained injuries.
The Nigerian Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on their Twitter handle that 8 persons died and 15 were injured.
Reports say another bomb, found in the vehicle where the first one exploded has been neutralised.
