Never Say Never 2

But before I could even finish my explanation, my cheek was so much flaming up, Pearls slapped me!!! I fought back tears but let it go at last when I couldn’t take it anymore. They beat the hell out of me, like a dog. Enny had told me that without them, I was nothing. Luke and his friends drove me out of the room without a dim. They said nothing I had is worth the diamond Wrist Watch. I was left stranded and heartbroken I had thought I would die from all those bruises and heartbreak. But God gave me a new hope. Makinde, the guy I neglected and thought would not amount to anything in life, accepted me without any doubt.
He rented a small room for me and clothed me. After that ordeal, I realized that all the 3years of my stay in school were wasted years. Wasted depending on others, wasted crawling like a dog and now I need to learn how to stand and Makinde had taught me that. He taught me how to find my feet again and told me to always persevere in the face of rejection. He let me believe that I can be what I want to be with hard work, determination, focus and persistence. With my money source gone, all I got from my aunt is a ‘Chicken Fee” and her usual letter, reminding me not to let go of rich kids. But gone are those days, even without money, one can still be rich....
When I saw Pearls and others in school, I was enraged at first but I learnt to put behind me wasted years. And I felt peace at last. Makin and I got so close, and his inspiration got me going. I will forever be thankful to him. But Makinde had to leave; he graduated with a first class honour and was posted to Zaria. I missed him so much, but he calls frequently to gist me about his life after graduation you must know that Makinde was no ordinary guy, he was so determined and focused and before his service year was over, he was employed in a multi-billion company in Tokyo.
House of blossom

I also graduated with a 2nd class upper, my eyes sparked as I shake hand with the Vice Chancellor of the school. After convocation, I was posted to Abuja to serve my father’s land in a village named Gwarinpa. Though hard lesson were learnt, but I was grateful to God for giving me a second chance at life. In the village community school where I was assigned, I was coordinating the pupils on the assembly when a big car drove in and Makinde highlighted from it. He waved at me and smile. I was surprised; he had not told me he was coming back from Tokyo. I could not wave back but smiled so as not to confuse the pupil. Then after all the pupil had matched in their respective class singing “When the captors carried us away in captivity” .... I ran to him and he met me half way, we hugged hard and I felt fulfilled. His eyes held peace and intelligence. Before I know what is happening, another car drove in, followed by another.... I looked puzzled... then Makinde knelt down on one kneels and proposed again, saying “For the third time and for all the right reasons in the world, Marry me!!!” It doesn’t sound like a question but I said happily yes, yes and yes.
I have heard of couple whose first words to one another were “Will you marry me” or “this woman will be my wife”, the likes of Olu Jacob and Joke Silver. I never thought life could be so dramatic and someone you had said never to could be the one you would want for life.
In those cars that drove in earlier are my well wishers, my aunt, Pearls, Enny, Emerald, Luke and others. I marvelled at the turn of event, and at last, felt like I have overcome my demons. In that spot I whisper Maui to him and here we are together.
